Who we are

Rally & Cause LLC is a digital marketing agency based in New York, NY, working exclusively with sports nonprofits. For the purposes of the GDPR we are the data controller for the information described below. You can reach us at info@rallyandcause.com or (646) 933-3302.

This policy covers rallyandcause.com. It does not cover any third-party site we link to, including the booking page described below.

What we collect

When you submit the contact form, we collect the information you enter: your name, email address, role, organization name, website, the category your organization falls into, the challenge you describe, and whether you are interested in an audit. When you subscribe to receive field notes, we collect your email address only.

We do not collect payment information, physical addresses, government identifiers, or any special category data. We have no login, no account system, and no e-commerce.

We also collect standard analytics data: pages visited, time on site, approximate location by country or region, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. Google Analytics assigns a random identifier to your browser. We do not attempt to link that identifier to your name or email, we do not run advertising or remarketing pixels on this site, and we have turned off Google Signals and advertising personalization, so your visit is not used to build advertising audiences or to follow you across devices.

Our server logs, and those of our host, record IP addresses and request details as part of normal operation and abuse prevention.

How we use it, and our legal basis

We use contact form submissions to respond to your enquiry and to work out whether there is a fit for an engagement. Where GDPR applies, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry you initiated, and, once an engagement begins, the performance of a contract.

We use subscription email addresses to send new essays and field notes when we publish them. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.

We use analytics data to understand how the site is used and to improve it. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of service providers, each of which processes data on our behalf under its own privacy policy. We do not control their practices, and we have listed them by name so you can read them:

Netlify hosts this site and processes contact and subscription form submissions. Resend delivers the email that a contact form submission generates to our inbox. Google Analytics 4 provides site analytics. Calendly hosts the call booking page; if you follow a Book a call link, any information you enter there is collected by Calendly under its own policy, not ours.

All four are US-based. If you are in the EU or UK, your data is therefore transferred to and stored in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets analytics cookies through Google Analytics 4, principally _ga and a property-specific _ga_* cookie, which distinguish browsers and retain a randomly generated identifier for up to two years. We do not use advertising, remarketing, or social media tracking cookies, and there are no third-party ad pixels on this site.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect any functionality on this site.

We also honour Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends a GPC signal, we do not load Google Analytics at all on your visit: no analytics cookie is set, no page view is recorded, and nothing is sent to Google. You do not need to tell us separately, and there is no banner to dismiss.

Data retention

We retain contact form submissions for as long as they are relevant to a potential or active client relationship, and in any case no longer than twenty-four months after our last contact with you, after which we delete them. Subscription email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe.

Analytics data is retained for no longer than fourteen months. That is the maximum a Google Analytics 4 property allows for user-level and event-level data, and the period configured on our property may be shorter than it.

You can request deletion at any time and we will action it.

How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS with HTTP Strict Transport Security. Form submissions are transmitted over encrypted connections, and API credentials are held server-side only and are never exposed in the browser. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email info@rallyandcause.com. We will respond within thirty days and we will not charge you or treat you differently for asking.

If you are in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we do not process sensitive personal information.

If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you the rights above and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We have no EU or UK establishment and have not appointed a representative under Article 27.

Children

Many of the organizations we work with run youth programs, so it is worth being explicit: this site is aimed at the adults who run those organizations, not at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, email info@rallyandcause.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes to how we handle personal data will be noted here rather than made silently.
