AI search visibility for sports nonprofits

Supporters, donors, and nonprofit leaders can now encounter organizations through AI-generated answers as well as traditional search results. AI search visibility is the work of making sure your organization is described clearly and accurately enough for those systems to understand it and draw on it.

Who this is for

Organizations that already have a website with real content but rarely come up when someone asks an AI assistant about their sport, their cause or their area. Also organizations whose details differ across their site, their Google Business Profile and directory listings, which makes them harder for any system to describe correctly.

The problem it addresses

AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews build answers from information they can find and interpret. A program described only in a PDF flyer, an image of a schedule or a social post is hard for them to read.

Inconsistent details make it worse. If the site, the Google Business Profile and a directory listing give three different addresses or program names, a system has no reliable version to use.

Platforms publish general guidance, but they do not disclose the complete systems used to select citations. What an organization controls is whether accurate, clearly structured information about it exists to be found.

What we do

We start with what these assistants currently say. We ask the questions your participants, families and supporters are likely to ask, and record which answers mention you, which mention others, and what they get wrong.

Then we make the source material clear: a plain description of what the organization is, who it serves and where, program pages written as text rather than images, and consistent details across the site and the listings you control.

Structured data goes in so the facts are machine-readable: organization details, locations, and article markup on your guides. Structured data can help machines interpret a page, but it does not guarantee inclusion or citation in AI-generated answers.

We ask the same questions again on a schedule and report what changed, without claiming credit for anything we cannot attribute.

How this differs from search engine optimization

AI search visibility focuses on how accurate, accessible information about your organization may be understood and cited in AI-generated answers. Search engine optimization, a separate service, focuses on traditional organic discovery in search results. This work builds on that foundation, and neither service guarantees inclusion, citations, rankings, or traffic. Search engine optimization for sports nonprofits.

Reaching the people you serve

When someone asks an AI assistant which programs near them suit a child with a disability, or where an adult beginner can learn a sport, an answer can only include your organization if your programs are described clearly and consistently enough for the assistant to understand them.

We make sure each program's location, ages, schedule, eligibility and sign-up details are stated plainly on your own site, so there is accurate information for these systems to draw on. Whether and how an assistant cites you remains its decision.

What is included

  • A baseline of what major AI assistants say about your organization and your programs
  • Organization, location and program details made consistent across your site and the listings you control
  • Structured data for your organization, locations and content
  • Program and question-led content written to answer what people actually ask
  • An experimental plain-text summary of key site information. Google states that no special file is required for AI Overviews or AI Mode, and this file does not guarantee discovery, inclusion, or citation.
  • Periodic re-checks reported against the baseline

How the work runs

  1. Baseline. We record how a fixed set of questions about your organization, programs and area is answered today, so later checks have something to compare against.
  2. Source clean-up. We correct and align your organization and program details across your site and the listings you control.
  3. Structure and content. Structured data, program pages and question-led content, built on the same foundation as your search engine optimization rather than separately from it.
  4. Re-check and report. The same questions, asked again on a schedule, with what changed and what did not.

What you provide

  • Accurate, current details for every program: locations, ages, schedules, eligibility and how to join
  • Access to your website, Google Business Profile and any directory listings you manage
  • One person who can confirm facts quickly when sources disagree

What we do not do

Stated plainly, because the boundary matters more than the pitch. Our approach page lists what falls outside the whole practice.

  • We do not guarantee that any AI assistant will mention, cite or recommend your organization. Each system decides that itself.
  • We do not create fake reviews, mentions or listings to influence AI answers.
  • We do not sell placement in AI products, and we do not offer anything that claims to buy it.
  • We do not provide legal or tax advice about your organization, including anything about charitable status.

A realistic next step

A 30-minute call where we ask a few AI assistants about your organization together and look at what comes back. It is usually the quickest way to see whether this is worth doing now.
