Meta ads for sports nonprofits
Meta ads put your organization in front of people on Facebook and Instagram who have not found you yet, and bring back people who have. For a sports nonprofit that usually means a registration window, an event, a volunteer drive or a campaign, run on a budget you set, with tracking that shows what it produced.
Who this is for
Organizations with a clear moment to promote, such as a registration window, a camp, an open house, an event or a volunteer drive, and a modest budget to put behind it. Also organizations already boosting posts without a plan that want to know what that money is doing.
The problem it addresses
Boosted posts offer fewer campaign controls than campaigns built in Ads Manager, so they are not always the right choice for registration, donation, or lead goals.
Without conversion tracking there is no way to tell which ads produced registrations or gifts, so budget decisions come down to guesswork.
Some cause-related ads fall under Meta's rules for ads about social issues, which require authorization and a disclaimer before they run. Organizations that miss this can see ads rejected in the middle of a campaign.
What we do
We start from the action you need: a registration, a volunteer sign-up, an event RSVP or a gift. The campaign objective, the landing page and the tracking all follow from that.
We set up the Meta pixel and conversion events properly, so results are measured against completed actions rather than clicks.
Audiences are built around where your participants and supporters actually are: a radius around your fields or venues, interests tied to your sport or cause, and people who have already visited your site.
Creative is made for the placement: short video and native-looking images from your own programs rather than stock graphics. Before launch we check each campaign against Meta's advertising policies, including whether it counts as an ad about a social issue.
Reaching the people you serve
Meta ads can put a program in front of the people most likely to join it: parents within a set distance of your fields, adults interested in your sport, or people who have already visited your registration page.
Registration drives, open houses, camp sign-ups and volunteer recruitment are often a better fit for paid social than a cold donation ask, and they are easier to measure, because each one ends in a form someone either completes or does not.
What is included
- Business account, pixel and conversion event setup
- Campaigns for registrations, events, volunteers and donations, each tracked separately
- Audience building, including site visitors and lookalike audiences where they fit
- Ad creative from your own photos and video
- Policy checks, including authorization for ads about social issues where it is required
- Monthly reporting against completed actions and cost per result
How the work runs
- Goal and tracking. We agree what the campaign is for and set up the tracking that will show whether it worked.
- Audience and creative. Audiences and ads built for that goal, from your own material.
- Launch and test. A small number of variations run at once, so the budget is not spread too thin to learn anything.
- Report and adjust. Results measured against completed actions, budget moved to what is working, and a plain report each month.
What you provide
- Admin access to your Facebook Page and Instagram account, or a business account we can be added to
- Photos and short video from your programs, or permission for us to capture them at an event
- An ad budget, paid by your organization directly to Meta
- Clear dates for registration windows, events and campaigns
What we do not do
Stated plainly, because the boundary matters more than the pitch. Our approach page lists what falls outside the whole practice.
- We do not guarantee a number of registrations, gifts or sign-ups. We report what campaigns produce and adjust from there.
- We do not run political or electoral advertising.
- We do not buy followers or engagement.
- We do not pay your ad spend. Your organization pays Meta directly.
A realistic next step
A 30-minute call to look at your next registration window or campaign and whether paid social is the right way to fill it. For some goals the Google Ad Grant or email will do more for less, and we will say so.
